Thanks to the web portal, dispatchers have an overview of the current location of drivers, the status of orders and any problems with delivery.

Since development began in late 2021 and its deployment in mid-2022, the app has become a critical part of logistics departments in many companies, where it helps reduce transportation costs and increase dispatcher productivity. Development of the app is ongoing to add new features and enhancements, that will make the work of logistics companies even easier.

For drivers, Freya means precise instructions and a clearly structured day, allowing them to focus on delivery without unnecessary paperwork or complicated communication.

We created this application for our partner Solvertech, a leading Czech supplier of software products for logistics and distribution with expertise in smart logistics optimization. The company's products are used by dozens of logistics companies of various sizes - from small operations with a few vehicles to large-scale operations with hundreds of routes per day.

Over the many years of working together on this project, we have extended the application with many functionalities through agile project management, including a revolutionary card payment by putting the card to the courier's phone, without the need to connect to an external payment terminal.

Assignment

Our client commissioned us to add to their product portfolio. We were tasked with extending their existing application focused on creating an optimal delivery plan with a tool for dispatchers and an app for drivers.

The courier app was designed to replace paper delivery schedules, which lack the ability to agilely adjust the schedule throughout the day, with a modern mobile app that seamlessly guides the driver through their duties, making their job easier while enforcing compliance with prescribed procedures.

These objectives were achieved, for example, by implementing:
  • A complete overview of tasks with automation of common activities such as navigation to a destination, automatic SMS or calling clients.
  • Simple item dispensing using QR/bar codes with the option to secure the handover with a PIN code.
  • Support for electronic handover protocols including signatures and photo documentation.
  • A customisable system for collecting additional information, allowing businesses to tailor the delivery process to their exact needs.
  • Support for various payment methods, both by connecting to payment terminals and - as one of the first integrators of this technology in our country - directly by attaching a payment card to the driver's phone.

In addition to features for dispatchers, the application allows management to analyze shipping data, either in the form of various reports, or a detailed view of what actions the driver (and dispatcher) has taken during any given event.

What challenges awaited us?

Our client tasked us with adding to their product portfolio. We were tasked with expanding their existing application focused on creating an optimal delivery plan by adding a dispatcher tool and a driver application.

Data traceability

Having accurate records of driver and dispatcher actions allows our customers to track exactly how deliveries were made and calculate various metrics tailored to each customer.

This record keeping also allows us to migrate currently delivered routes to their updated versions. With this functionality, customers can change routes already in progress without worrying about the system allowing them to lose track of items already processed.

Operation in challenging conditions

Each of the companies using our app is unique. Where some require the fastest possible handover, for others it's imperative to follow a precise process, whether it's collecting additional information, photos of damaged shipments or complex handover protocols.

We have designed the Freya app to not restrict clients, but rather adapt flexibly to their processes. Using a system of dynamic fields, each customer can configure each stop according to their needs. The system supports the collection of different information (text, photo, signature, GPS, ...) with the possibility to set under which circumstances the field is required.

This approach allows clients to include their processes in the application, which can vary based on whether the handover of shipments was successful, the client was not stopped, or other possible conditions.

What is the result?

Since the start of development in late 2021 and its deployment in mid-2022, the app has become a critical part of logistics departments in many companies, where it helps reduce transportation costs and increase the productivity of dispatchers and drivers.

Over several years of continuous development, we have expanded the Freya logistics platform to meet the requirements of our customers. They have served hundreds of thousands of customers with it.

Within the SLA contract, we provide our partner with support at agreed times, which includes a quick response to technical problems, regular updates and maintenance of the system, as well as training and consultation for effective use of the application. Our support is designed to ensure maximum satisfaction and smooth operation of the application.
